There Are No Shortcuts

by Marko Martelli

There are no shortcuts.

At least not to true personal achievement, success, joy, happiness, etc.

You see, after digging for shortcuts endlessly…

… scattering from one bright shiny object (BSO) to the next one…

… always on the hunt for the next best “plug & play holy grail” of success…

… I had this staggering epiphany.

I realized that shortcuts don’t work, because…

There Are No Shortcuts to Success And True Achievement

When you’re trying to take a shortcut.. you’re only cheating yourself (and often others).

Like, I know this guy who lost his job and now desperately tries to make a living (for himself and his family) by selling ‘scammy’ affiliate products with fake (and stolen) reviews… following an Internet marketing guru’s shortcut-guide to richness.

Which will lead him to nowhere’s land. It’s an illusion that’ll leave him empty.

Every Time You Cut Corners You Shortchange Yourself or Someone Else

You miss out on the great learning experience you get from going the full length. And these sweet “aha!”-moments of understanding something on a new, deeper level. There’s nothing more fulfilling than fighting your way to the top reaping the juicy fruits of your bloody effort.

Imagine you plan to reach the peak of the Everest… Would you take the elevator if there’s one? Then, if you would take the elevator… do you think you’d feel this rewarding firestorm of achievement reaching the top? Or would you gain all the deep (and painful) insights about mountaineering?

Obviously not.

You’d only cheat yourself.

The belief that we can rely on shortcuts to happiness, joy, rapture, comfort, and ecstasy, rather than be entitled to these feelings by the exercise of personal strengths and virtues, leads to legions of people who, in the middle of great wealth, are starving spiritually.Martin Seligman

Heck, I have to remind myself of these basic lessons over and over. It’s just too easy to forget these basic principles.

Sincerely,

Marko Martelli
