You spend a lot of time typing emails?
What if you could safe 50% of the time your spending in front of your computer?
Double your daily output by doubling your writing speed with “Touch Typing”
As you might already know, touch typing is a high-speed typing method (aka touch keyboarding). You use all ten fingers for maximum efficiency… without you bothering to look at your keyboard while typing.
Even though you can save yourself lots of time, most people don’t want to go through a boring drill of daily practice (including myself). In fact, I’ve tried to learn touch typing a few years back… but… I gave up because the usual exercises were a bloody torture to my shoulders and brain.
Yet, as I had to write more and more on a daily basis, I couldn’t neglect that I’d safe tons of time and energy if I’d finally learn this. So, I’ve researched on the Web for the easiest way to learn touch-typing… and… I actually discovered typing games and free web tools that help you to learn touch typing while having fun.
Here’s what I have found:
- The Typing Club – Here you’ll learn all the basics of touch typing. Where to start and where to place which finger (100% free). If you’re entirely new to the techniques of touch-typing then this website is a great place to start.
- TypeRacer – My favorite touch typing learning game! Type-race against other people typing quotes and small passages from books. Who said this needs to be boring? This game is highly motivating and it will keep track of your overall progress.
(TIP: This site displays adds but you can easily get rid of them with an ad-blocker like Adblock Edge for Firefox)
- Fast-Typer 3 – This is fun little flash game (with rather high difficulty if you’re just staring out.) With a little bit of practice of typing with ten fingers, Fast-Typer will be a great warm up for your before writing any article.
- Z-Type – Another cool flash game where you shoot word-missiles at attacking space ships by typing words.
Then, if you like to study articles, sales letters, or anything else, while learning touch-typing, here’s what you can do: Fire-up Word and the material you want to study… and… start copying it in touch typing mode.
I like doing this with a couple of my favorite articles and ads from the copywriting resource. If you do this for a couple of times, you’ll burn the contents into my memory and, at the same time, you’ll double your typing speed.
And now I like to challenge you:
Double Your Typing Speed
In 30 Days Or Less!
If you start today and you practice each day for 15 minutes, you will have doubled your writing speed in 30 days. Thus, you’ll save yourself a lot of time when writing emails or articles in future.
Take 15 minutes a day and use the above mentioned tools to reduce your writing time.
Soon, in 10-15 days you’ll be able to use this technique to write your business emails or private emails, or your letters, articles, or whatever you have to write.
In the beginning it will take you a while get comfortable with this. But as soon as you’ve internalized typing with ten fingers you’ll do it subconsciously and you’ll be glad about the huge amount of time you save in the end.
If you follow this challenge, please post your typing speed improvements.
P.S. Here’s my improvement over time on TypeRacer:
If you want to get the most of your practice time, let me recommend to you the TypingMaster Pro. Why? Because this software guides you like a personal touch-typing mentor. It teaches you all the keys in the ideal sequence for you to learn as fast as possible.
You get detailed statistics about your progress and the frequent errors you make. Then you will be taken through some special routines to get rid of your personal “bad” habits to reduce your error ratio.Share this Post
